Local imm. reaction
Joel's top right imm. site (Hep B) got a local reaction. By Thurs. am the site was red, hard, tender (made him cry to touch it, brush it, put pressure on his leg) and hot. He had a low grade temp. Josh and I brought him to the pedi to note the reaction and make suer it wasn't turning into a cellulitis. It was pretty much all cleared up by Friday.

6 month well check today (will be 6 mos. Sat)
Weight: 17.3 (45-48%)
Length: 27" (74-78%)
HC: 16.75 (23-24%)
He's doing wonderfully, sitting, rolling, actually enjoying some tummy time, holding his bottle and sippy cup, teething on bitter biscuits, eating puffs, trying to pick up puffs, shaking rattles, swapping toys hand to hand, standing holding on, squealing, laughing, babbling, doing some communication elimination, bouncing, slapping everything with his hands, sucking his toes, so inquisitive, sleeping well, eating like crazy, just so happy!

About 1.5 weeks away from 6 months
WOW! The months are flying by.
We went for our first swim in the lake Memorial Day weekend and the pool the other night (water was still really cool). I can't wait for it to warm up, both air and water so we can bring Joel swimming more. He's doing real well. Eating his cereal and stage 2 foods like a champ and some bits of bread, cheese, chicken and he loves his puffs and also gnawing on pizza crust, LOL!
He's chewing on his hands and toys with a vengeance, but still no signs of any pearly whites yet.
We weighed him at home last night, got 17 lbs, lg of 27 and HC of 16 5/8, His 6 months well baby check is set for the afternoon of the 24th.
He is loving his doorway jumper still, has sat and played in the sandbox a few times, loves standing and does it while holding on to something all by himself and he enjoys sitting and playing with toys. Been really sucking his thumb and loving his blankie at nap time too.

5 months
Phew, where has the time gone...5 months old already! Our precious little man!! We can't imagine life without him...
Court date for BF's TPR is set for the morning of 7/15/09. We are all praying for this day to come and go without a hitch! We can't wait for him to be "ours"!
He is sitting up completely by himself now, loves his doorway jumper (falls asleep jumping in it, LOL!), loves playing/splashing/kicking lying in the water in the tub, played in his baby pool a few times 2 weeks ago and is starting to eat/gum rice krispies, puffs, etc...
He is doing so well...His HC was 16 3/8 on the 27th and 16 1/2 last night (I emailed the 16 3/8 measurement to Karen, his NP as she wanted me to send his HC to her every 2 weeks). He weighed about 16 pounds on our home scale last night and we measured him at 26.5 long. So he is growing well. He's getting rather long for his 3-6 mos sleepers. As soon as the warmer weather hits and sticks around he'll be into his 6-9 mos clothing.
Can't believe it is June 1st already, looking forward to the summer...we got the pool all set yesterday, wahooo!

1st cold/cough, awww poor baby
Last Thursday (5/7) Joel woke up from his morning nap with a cough...right after Mom and I were talking about him not being sick yet, lol!
So, he still has his cough, which sounds yucky (has all along). We got him checked yesterday (hasn't had a fever at all, eating well, sleeping well, playing, smiling, acting normal) and his lungs are clear :o) RSV negative :O) so we let it run it's course unless he starts with a fever then we'll need to reevaluate things. His nose started really running (clear) yest. and today (he hates his nose wiped).
We measured his head while there yest. 16.25 so guess it's grown 1/4 of an inch in 2 weeks...that's great! His weight was still the same 14.13 don't know how he hasn't gained he eats a ton and feels heavier, but...
His recent fave is his doorway jumper he's a crazy jumpin baby in that thing...so cute!
We were given a Childlife swing set for him this weekend, wahooo! It has the climber, monkey bars, slide, glider, swing, trapeze bar thing and Josh will build a look out/ club house on top of it in the future :o)

Joel's 4 month well check and updates
Was great!
NP says he is amazing...we showed her how he sits up alone (yes, been doing this since around the 21st of April or so) and she said wow, he's advanced.
We told her how he has no interest in rolling over yet...guess what he did it last night (5-4-09) from belly to back and then proceeded to do it about 20 more times, lol!
He is so cute and so happy!!
His stats:
Weight 14lbs 13 oz (49%)
Length 24 inches (18%)
HC 16 (13%)
Okay, so he is totally off his curve this visit. Got heavier, shorter, LOL and his head is still small. His fontanel is really smaller and feels like it is closing already so we need to monitor his HC. I'll be measuring it at home and calling his DR with his HC every 2 weeks. As long as his head keeps growing and he keeps up developmentally there shouldn't be any problems.
He is awesome at drinking from a sippy cup now (started that a few weeks ago too).
He just seems so willing to try new things and is so interested in everything...hope that keeps up. Just last night I was feeding him his cereal and green beans for dinner and he wanted the spoon, every time I put it to his mouth he held my hand and helped me. So, I gave him the spoon and he'd do it himself.
We can't believe how big and smart he is!
Update on Bfather TPR: Won't be till beg. of July now, Grrr!
Attorney had a court date, judge was a a$$ and didn't like the wording of something on the petition so he is having him amend the petition and get this...run the publication AGAIN for 5 weeks, wait 3 weeks and go back for a court date. I can't believe this. He still isn't ours and what an awful feeling that is. We have to just continue with our day to day and not think about it. Our SW tells us not to worry, but if the judge can be an a$$ on this, he could be if Bfather took things to court too. We pray he has no interest in this as he has had all this time and thankfully nothing. Please pray with us. We can't bear the thought of fighting for OUR SON!
Guess that's the update for now :o)
Thank you!
